THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL FANTASY LEAGUE OWNED BY FANS

Today, fantasy sports represents one of America’s great national pastimes. However, despite its popularity, fantasy has yet to unlock its true potential due to limitations fundamental to the way the game is played. Millions of fragmented leagues and teams have contributed to a universally disconnected and solitary experience, while the format it operates in is a zero-sum game that provides no long-term financial value for its participants. The Crown League seeks to evolve and enhance this experience by leveraging the blockchain to aggregate, unify, and institutionalize fantasy football into one national league and 12 professionally managed franchises, all fractionally owned by the public. In doing so, it creates a new sports paradigm that blurs the line between gaming and investing, fans and owners. The end result is the only fantasy league that matters.

THE LEAGUE

The Crown League will launch with twelve inaugural franchises representing key geographical markets throughout the United States. Each franchise will be fractionally owned by the public and professionally managed by a GM and Front Office staff. The Crown League’s Inaugural Draft will take place in the summer of 2019 with all NFL skill players and team defenses available for selection. All subsequent drafts will be restricted to incoming rookies and free agents. The league will officially commence in September of 2019 and operate in an ongoing dynasty format for the purposes of building long-term, legacy franchises. Teams will compete throughout each season in weekly head-to-head matchups with results determined by their collective statistical performance.

Public Ownership

The Crown League aims to democratize the ownership of professional sports by offering the general public ownership interest in both its league and franchises. As a result, individual franchises within the league will be made up of large communities of investors who will collectively root together, govern their teams and share in their profits. This unique and innovative structure has the potential to foster thriving ownership bases that can work together to develop enduring franchises and help grow their value. In doing so, The Crown League finally eliminates the historically inaccessible and unattainable barriers of entry into professional sports ownership.

Professionally Managed

Each Crown League franchise will be led by a professional General Manager (GM) and Front Office staff responsible for day-to-day team operations, finance, marketing, and community management. It is anticipated that GMs will have considerable experience and expertise in the fantasy space and be recruited from high profile fantasy platforms, sports media and the professional ranks. Front Office staffs will support GMs and consist of former pro athletes, key influencers, fantasy specialists, and franchise ambassadors. GMs will be tasked with drafting their teams, add/drop waiver determinations, trading of players, and start/sit roster decisions. However, they’ll ultimately be influenced by and accountable to their ownership base who will have the ability to hire and replace them through blockchain-enabled voting features.

Shared Community Engagement

Unlike the passionate, unified fanbases that exist within professional sports, fantasy sports participation is primarily a solitary and isolated experience. The Crown League changes this by immersing its users in a vast and dynamic community of engagement. While access to exclusive franchise channels will provide interactive forums for collaboration, strategy, and influence –  voting privileges will empower owners and facilitate direct input into team decision-making. This unprecedented engagement will even extend beyond the league’s digital platform to live local meet-ups and national league events which bring communities together to watch their teams compete and share in the experience of aligned emotional and financial interests.

Play Your Way

In The Crown League’s dynamic marketplace, ownership interest in a franchise can be bought or sold, for any reason, at any time; in-season, off-season, even in the middle of a game. This unheard-of, preference-based economy provides a multitude of options in how one chooses to play the game, and departs from the restrictive standard fantasy model where you’re bound to your team for the duration of each season. So whether you’re a loyal owner committed to the present and future of your franchise, or an opportunistic trader constantly seeking value in the marketplace, The Crown League allows for a broad range of participation.

TAKE PART IN THE EXPERIENCE

The Crown League is the first professional fantasy football league, owned by the public, managed by experts, and run entirely on blockchain technology.

The Ownership Experience

Professional sports ownership has long been a dream held by millions, yet one that has been realistically achievable for only a select few – until now. The Crown League fulfills this dream by allowing friends, family, coworkers and strangers the opportunity to obtain ownership stakes in the same professional fantasy team. In doing so, it gives them the ability to take part in both the emotional and financial aspects of pro sports team ownership, including the sharing of league profits generated from sponsorships, advertising, merchandising, licensing, event ticket sales and more. Further, it provides participants with an authentic ownership experience where responsibility is delegated to professional management while maintaining influence and accountability over their franchises.

League Broadcast Coverage

The Crown League plans to produce original content and season-long professional coverage of the league and its franchises, to be streamed online, syndicated on cable and broadcast through major media outlets. Televised shows, podcasts and print articles will provide exclusive lifestyle content all centered around the league, its teams, its owners, its management, and even its fans. Gameday coverage will provide pre and post-game analysis of the weekly matchups, while professional sportscasters will follow and interview GMs and prominent personalities within the franchises. Ultimately, The Crown League intends to offer relevant and exclusive brand-centric content to its constituents as well as millions of fantasy enthusiasts who want to follow, learn from and be inspired by the best players in the world competing at the highest levels.

Investment Gaming

Investing in sports today means gambling or fantasy sports – both short-term options where money is locked up and merely redistributed to a select few winners in a zero-sum game. These models have binary outcomes, fleeting rewards, and create no new financial value for their participants. The Crown League, however, migrates to a traditional investing model in which true incremental value is derived from enduring, professionally managed and operated fantasy franchises. The result is a framework that aligns fandom with long-term financial interests in a legal, transparent and secure fashion – and a platform where you can invest in the game you love.

Powered By Blockchain

The Crown League could never have existed before the emergence of blockchain technology, which at scale, allows for real-time trading in a liquid market and fractionalized ownership interests in both the league and its franchises. It also provides a foundational structure that allows a potentially massive population of participants to govern the league through consensus – including voting on management, team strategy, rules, distributions, and more. Blockchain facilitates automated league operations, frictionless transactions, instantaneous settlements, and a proprietary ecosystem that allows its users to create and monetize value as the network grows. Most importantly, it provides trust and transparency on a decentralized platform.
